RISAN PROJECT TOUR

The Cresta Alta Film Tour is engaging audiences throughout the US with arts councils, colleges, high schools and museums at events produced by The Risan Project. The 2025 tour features Risan Media's expedition-based climate change documentary film titled, Cresta Alta, that chronicles a journey to Alaska, Iceland, Chile and Peru to document glaciological research expeditions and sustainability. The screenings are followed by a discussion/Q&A with producer and director, Todd Anders Johnson, that connects Cresta Alta's global environmental messaging to local and regional environmental movements. 


At many events, The Risan Project commences the show with a screening of Risan Media's short documentary film titled, Northward, that shares the origin story of Todd Anders Johnson's socially-conscious, Colorado band, Salem, while touring and backcountry snowboarding throughout Alaska.  Following the screening of Cresta Alta and the Q&A portion, the events culminate in concerts with Salem or our world jazz band, Boureas.  


In featuring Todd Anders Johnson's snowboard mountaineering and being a touring musician with a passion for integrating socially-conscious elements into Salem's hybrid music, The Risan Project establishes an authentic and engaging relationship with diverse audiences that enhances the experience of the Cresta Alta Film.

MULTI MEDIA EVENTS

The Risan Project produces multi-media events featuring concerts backed by action sports films with on-screen content and activations from our environmental, outdoor and cannabis industry partners. Our events allow for on-site activation, promotions, on-screen content integration and digital advertising. In this age of digital overload, the Risan Project provides an experiential alternative for brands with our Colorado events.


The Risan Project connects brands with mountain communities and urban outdoor enthusiasts and with the inclusion of educational and environmentally-conscious elements in our age-gated tour, we also aim to help reduce the stigma surrounding the use of cannabis in our culture.

CONCERTS

The Risan Project’s house-band, Salem, performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending alternative rock, world, hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul. The band is comprised of snowboarders and skiers and the group has been touring the powder highways of the Lower 48, Canada and Alaska performing at concert venues, festivals, colleges and competitive snow-sports events like the Winter X Games, the US Freeskiing Open and at snow-sports conventions like SIA and Outdoor Retailer.

Our in-house world jazz band, Boureas, has been performing Afro-Cuban and Flamenco-inflected jazz throughout Colorado, Nantucket and Utah at a variety of venues with arts organizations and outdoor industry conventions like the Nantucket Land Council, Breck Create and Outdoor Retailer. Boureas performs on the Cresta Alta Film Tour with The Risan Project at key venues.

FILMS AND DIGITAL ADVERTISING

Risan Project events have included action sports films and content from Risan Media, Absinthe Films, Field Productions, Standard Films, Salomon, Line Skis, Sweetgrass Productions, Inspired Media, Vantage Cinema, Stellar Media, the Snowboarder’s Journal, Ivresse Films, Xtreme Video and Your Big Stories, Almo Films, Picture Organic Clothing and Local Rolli. We integrate engaging on-screen content and advertising from our environmental, outdoor and cannabis partners throughout our events. 

SUSTAINABILITY

We have produced solar-powered concert events with the City of Aspen and the Nantucket Land Council and produced a tour from Colorado to Seattle in a veggie oil-powered shuttle bus where Salem performed at the Seattle Hempfest main stage for 10,000 people.

Northward is a short documentary that chronicles the story of Colorado-based band, Salem, that performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending alternative rock, world, hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul. THE RISAN PROJECT'S TODD ANDERS JOHNSON

Todd Anders Johnson is a socially-conscious multi-media and event producer, performing artist, educator and snowboard mountaineer. With the Risan Brands family of companies, Todd merges his passions for the environment, the arts, cannabis and outdoor recreation. 


Risan Media produces cinematic film and video and has produced video projects for Snoop Dogg’s MERRY JANE and Leafly. We have also worked with international NGOs and have joined several remote glaciological expeditions with international scientists to document sustainability and glaciological climate change research.

Salem performs Todd Anders Johnson's socially-conscious music that has been featured in a variety of ski and snowboard films. The band is comprised of skiers and snowboarders and has performed at many North American snow sports events, including solar powered concerts with tours powered by vegetable oil. 


Risan Project has produced multi-media events throughout North America that feature concerts backed by engaging content with experiential marketing activations and advertising from a variety of partners from the outdoor, environmental and cannabis industries. 


Boureas performs Afro-Cuban and Flamenco-inflected jazz and has been performing throughout Colorado, Nantucket and Utah at a variety of venues with arts organizations and outdoor industry conventions like the Nantucket Land Council, Breck Create and Outdoor Retailer. 


Risan Studies elevates communities with nuanced educational programs centered around drumming and world rhythms. 


Risan Consulting Group has developed CPG, bulk and white label sales, marketing and advertising with a variety of cannabis brands, cultivations and dispensaries throughout Colorado for over 10 years.


Todd’s passions for exploring big mountains brought him from Vermont to Seattle and then Alaska, where his first of many tours and expeditions began throughout the glaciated state. Todd now lives with his family high in the mountains of Colorado.

A free channel on TV Plus, AbsintheTV is available on all Samsung smart TVs in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK. The band travels with Risan Project tours, which include concerts, ski and snowboard film premiers and avalanche awareness videos with partners in the outdoor and cannabis industries. Salem will perform with film premiers of Absinthe Films' latest snowboard film, a/terForever, along with ski and snowboard videos from Inspired Media and Luca Rolli, cannabis animation from Nug Nation and Mary Jane's Medicinals and educational videos from the Marijuana Policy Project and AIARE. Next Thursday, the Risan Project is back in Anchorage on their annual tour of Alaska, bringing with them Colorado- based band Salem. The Risan Project's mission is to raise awareness of climate change through entertainment and action-based engagement, with their Alaskan tour focusing on snow sports like skiing and snowboarding. Combining film, music and activism, Risan's Alaska Tour offers audiences the chance to learn more about how to protect and enjoy nature while jamming to some incredible music.

ASPEN – Most everything about Todd Anders Johnson lines up quite neatly, as a left-leaning, environmentalist, socially engaged type. Johnson has done work with Bono’s One Campaign, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty, and has been affiliated with the Climate Project Canada. Not content to simply join other movements, in 2009, Johnson formed his own organization, the Risan Project, that links music and sporting events with alternative energy and sustainability efforts. While living in Seattle, in 2004, Johnson started his band, Salem, taking the name from the Hebrew “shalom” and the Arabic “salaam” – both of which translate as “peace.”
